Tell us about your Spray Plant 2K journey?
I have always taken an interest in mechanics and wanted to get into the automotive industry. I do a lot of motorcycle mechanics in my spare time and have been self taught from basics up to having done engine and suspension rebuilds. Due to the low pay rate of apprenticeships I wasn’t able to start working towards a qualification in motorcycle mechanics so started looking for jobs in other industries which still involved working with tools and problem solving and came across a “trainee engineer” position at SP2K. Came in for an interview and the rest is history.
What do you like about working at SP2K?
I have really enjoyed learning about such a niche industry ground up. Before I started the job I had no knowledge of the existence of machines I now service on a daily basis, only 9 months later. As I gained knowledge of the machines we come across I have had opportunities to go out to do services on site as well as fix breakdowns. I’m still learning every day I spend on the job. By far the biggest impact and change came with me passing my driving test as that allowed me to start going out on site on my own and learn from my own experiences on different jobs.
Tell us about any hobbies and interests you have outside of work.
My biggest passion are motorcycles. Chances are, if I’m not out riding my bikes I’m stuck in my garage fixing, servicing or customising them in one way or another.
