SPECIALIST PAINTING GROUP UTILIZES SPRAY PLANT 2K'S EXPERTISE FOR CHALLENGING BIO-DIGESTER PROJECT

Customer Overview:

Specialist Painting Group (SPG) is a leader in the field of protective coatings, known for their expertise in providing high-performance surface solutions. SPG specializes in applying protective coatings with long-lasting finishes for industrial environments, with a focus on corrosion-resistant or fire protection for the steel industry.

Operator Spraying Acothan Spray Grade

Project Background:

SPG was tasked with applying a protective coating inside a bio-digester. Bio-digesters play a critical role in converting organic waste into bio-methane and fuel, and this particular digester required a spray application for its corrugated sheet metal roof, which would protect it from corrosion. Because the spray application was required on a roof on the inside of the digester, and with a surface area spanning nearly 3,000 square meters, it was imperative that the correct spray equipment was spec’d for the job.

Sprayplant 2k involvement in the project:

Specialist Painting Group (SPG) turned to Spray Plant 2K to provide the machinery, expertise, and operational support needed to successfully complete the project.

SP2K provided the heated plural component spray machines required to apply Acothane spray grade. These machines were set up to enable near constant spraying, to deal with the short pot life of the Acothane spray grade.

Along with the machines, SP2k supplied an engineer to oversee the smooth operation of the equipment. The engineer’s role included monitoring and filling the hoppers, ensuring the correct ratio of components, and managing the machine's performance. This was vital in maintaining the fast turnaround times, whilst ensuring no issues with material consistency, which could have resulted in costly delays.

The project was completed successfully, with the protective anti-corrosion coating applied to the 3000 square meters of corrugated metal roof, achieving a uniform thickness of 1mm throughout ensuring long-term protection against corrosion in the harsh bio-digester environment.
